Guacamole is an avocado based relish diet dip. Avocado is regarded as one of nature's super rich fruits. Guacamole was valued for its high fat and vitamin content. It was originally made adding tomatoes and salt. Ripe avocados, lime and salt are common to most recipes. Lime or lemon juice is added not just for flavor but also to slow the reaction of the enzyme that causes browning.

Other common ingredients with guacamole include minced or grated red onion, black pepper, chili pepper, garlic, cumin, cilantro or coriander, and sauce. Some add sour cream as a filler and preservative.

Guacamole dip made from avocados originated in Mexico. Guacamole dip is a must have for parties. It is easy to prepare and takes only a few minutes. The trick to perfect guacamole is by using good and ripe avocados.

In the US two 'National Guacamole Days' are celebrated - on September 16th and November 14th. Although guacamole is highly nutritious, it can add up to the calories. A 2 tablespoon serving of classic guacamole dip has approximately 50 calories and 4.5 g of fat. Since guacamole is a nutrient dense food, chewing down on high calorie chips could be counterproductive. Instead, crunchy vegetables can be used in guacamole.

Avocado has the highest fat content of any fruit which helps to speed up body metabolism, leading to weight loss. Avocado is rich in vitamins A, K, E, C, and B among others. There is adequate fiber in avocado. Potassium and oleic acid are also present. There are phyto-nutrients in avocado especially in the Hass variety. Carotenoids are also available in avocado and when eaten with other vegetables are better absorbed in the body. This is why guacamole is considered a healthy food.


Delicious guacamole dip recipe

Ripe avocados 2
Red onion, minced ½ cup
Serrano chilies, stems, and seeds removed and minced 2
Cilantro leaves finely chopped 2 tablespoons
Fresh lime or lemon juice 2 tablespoons
Coarse salt ½ teaspoon
Freshly grated black pepper
Ripe tomato, seeds and pulp removed chopped ½

Cut avocados into half and remove the seeds. Scoop out avocado from the peel and put in a mixing bowl. Using a fork, mash the avocado. Add the chopped onion, cilantro, lime or lemon, salt and pepper and mash some more. Add one chili pepper and add the guacamole to the desired degree of hotness.

Keep the tomatoes separate until ready to serve. Cover with plastic and wrap directly on the surface of the guacamole to prevent oxidation from the air reaching it. Refrigerate until ready. Add the chopped tomato to the guacamole and mix just before serving.


Guacamole dip recipe 2

Take two avocados. Cut them and mash them until they form a creamy mixture. Use a blender if you want more smooth cream. Add some yogurt too, if you use blender. You can even use fork to mash avocados and skip the yogurt. Add lemon, salt and pepper and mix it thoroughly. Dice the onion into small squares and grate the garlic. Add them into the mixture. Stir it and taste. If you do not like the chunky guacamole dip, just use blender and put the mixture inside to blend into a creamy paste.

If you like chunky guacamole dip more, dice two to three tomatoes and add them to lime juice. Dice chilies either Jalapeno or Sierran. Chop garlic and add all these to the mixture. Serve it immediately after it is ready along with tortilla chips. At the time of serving, you can fold mayonnaise into this mixture and put it into serving dish.

Cream cheese guacamole dip recipe
Cream cheese softened 8 oz
Avocados peeled and mashed 2
Finely chopped onion ¼
Lemon juice 1 tablespoon
Salt ½ tablespoon
Garlic salt ¼ teaspoon
Hot sauce ¼ teaspoon
Tomato diced ½

Combine all ingredients, except tomato and mix well. Carefully stir in tomato. Serve with tortilla chips.

Preserving guacamole dip

To store guacamole dip, keep the air out. Otherwise, the dish will turn brown. Put a layer of plastic and wrap it on the surface of guacamole dip. Wrap another layer of plastic on the face of the bowl. Keep it refrigerated. But fresh guacamole is always the best choice for any party.


Guacamole omelet breakfast recipe

Eggs 2
Water 1 tablespoon
Avocado ½
Hot pepper sauce 2 drops
Tomato 1 chopped
Lemon juice ½ teaspoons
Seasoned salt
Salt and pepper to taste

Remove the avocado pit and scoop out the flesh. Mash it properly in a small bowl. Add seasoned salt, lemon juice, tomato and hot pepper sauce and mix well. Add water, eggs and dash of salt and pepper. Beat the mixture briskly. Transfer it into hot skillet or an omelet pan.

Churn while shaking the pan vigorously over heat. Stir until eggs begin to set. Allow it to stand for 2 to 3 seconds and then shake the pan. Put avocado mixture over half of the omelet. Slip a spatula under the omelet and fold in half. Guacamole omelet is ready.


Salsa guacamole

Avocados ripe halved pitted and peeled 6
Lemon juice ¼ cups
Salsa 1 cup
Green onions, finely chopped 2
Salt ¼ teaspoon
Garlic powder ¼ teaspoon
Tortilla chips

In a bowl, mash avocados with lemon juice. Stir in salsa, onions, salt and garlic powder. Serve immediately with tortilla chips.


Grilled guacamole recipe

Avocados halved and pitted 4
Diced red onion ½ cup
Jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced 1
Sour cream ½ cup
Lime juice 2 tablespoons
Garlic salt ½ teaspoon
Hot pepper sauce ½ teaspoon
Cherry tomatoes, quartered 12
Cilantro, chopped fresh 2 tablespoons

Preheat an outdoor grill for low heat and lightly grate oil. Cook the avocados on the preheated grill until just slightly browned and caramelized. Allow to cool to room temperature. Now remove the skins, and cube. Place ½ cup of the avocado into a mixing bowl and mash together with the onion, jalapeno pepper and sour cream. Stir in the lime juice, garlic salt, and hot pepper sauce and then gently fold in the remaining avocado along with the cherry tomatoes and cilantro. Chill 30 minutes before serving.


Homemade guacamole

Aside from salads and chips, homemade guacamole recipes are ideal for those who would like to try a new diet. It is very easy to prepare and she does not need any special kitchen items to prepare. A few steps will help her get the right taste for the family to delight.

A few things like a cutting board, potato masher, a sharp knife, a shallow lipped bowl with a flat bottom should be assembled before commencing on the homemade guacamole recipe. A favorite salsa, tortilla chips and some cumin can add some spice.

Yellow onions finely chopped 2 teaspoon
Minced jalapeno or Serrano chilies 2
Salt
Avocados, ripe peeled and seeded 2
Finely chopped plum tomato 2 tablespoon
Lime juice squeezed 2 teaspoon
Tortilla chips warm, for serving

Mash together a tablespoon of the cilantro, 1 teaspoon of the onion and 1 teaspoon of the chili with salt in the bottom of a medium sized bowl. Add the avocados and gently mash with a fork until chunky smooth. Fold the remaining cilantro, onion and chili into the mixture. Stir in the tomato and lime juice, adjust the seasonings to taste, and serve with a basket of warm tortilla chips.
