Camping Tent

Before you buy a camping tent, estimate your budget and requirements. Camping tents come in different sizes, one person, two persons or family or group camping tent.

  • What is the weather like? Are you going for extreme weather expeditions?

  • Is it easy to pitch?

  • What is its weight and size? Is it compatible with your travel needs- backpacking or canoe camping or RV camping?

Some camping tents are all-season tents that are great for relaxed summer camping or winter holidays. While your camping tent must be water-resistant, ensure good ventilation. Side openings and mesh screens on the tent walls will ensure air flow even and yet keep the bugs at bay.

Camping Tip

  • Always avoid narrow canyons and cliffs and ledges when you are camping. Do not camp close to stagnant water that is home to insects.

  • Look for camping accessories that have multiple uses. A solar-powered camp shower is a wonderful camping accessory. This mini shower allows you to wash hands and dishes too.

  • An important camping tip is to wear comfortable shoes. You can ruin a holiday with a blistered foot.

  • Insulated mugs with lids can keep your beverages piping hot.

  • Do not forget Allergy medicine, snake bite medicine and poison ivy medicine

  • Never forget to have access to a phone.

  • Another important camping tip is to educate kids about safety issues.

Camping Stove

Camping stoves come in different sizes and weights. Some are equipped with accessories such as push-button ignition and adjustable flame control. Dual burner camping stoves are heavy and cumbersome but help in getting a meal ready in a jiffy. Cartridge camping stoves are lighter and work well in most conditions except when it is too cold or windy. Liquid camping stoves have fuel tanks and don't let you down in the cold or windy weather. But they are bulkier and need refueling.

Camping Cookware

Camping cookware comes as reusable or consumables. You need to be equipped with sufficient paper towels and napkins to keep yourself comfortable. Don't forget trash bags to carry all the other consumable camping supply such as paper plates, cups and bowls. Ziplock bags are ideal to pack snacks and other food items. Arm yourself with adequate camping cookware such as mugs, partition trays, mixing bowls, spoons, knives and ladles. It is not practical to lug around your entire kitchen.

Instead make a list of essential cookware that you need on your camping expedition. This will depend on the number of people you need to cook for. You will need fewer cooking vessels if you are going in for canned or dehydrated meals that need to be merely heated. You can select camping cookware in stainless steel, cast iron, non-stick or aluminum alloy.

Camping Cot

An important camping accessory is a camp cot. You can go in for sleeping bags or collapsible camping cots. Such cots come in different sizes. A PVC airbed is an ideal camping cot. A built-in pump helps you to set it up easily. The advantage of camping cots over sleeping bags is that the raised surface will offer better comfort and keep you warmer. Select a sleeping bag that meets your camping style, physical requirements and budget. Ensure a pleasant night's sleep in the wilderness.
